Seems like it might be useful... is there a catch (it's free)? Anyone try it? If you read their web site, they don't appear to be doing anything untoward.

filber Palm T\|X'er Join Date: Mar 2003 Location: Boston Posts: 948	Works with ZLauncher Shortcuts on my SJ33, but what I don't like is that it does not actually show updated or new versions. It only shows the latest info available to the Tracker Dog online DB, which seems to be depending on human input. For example: I have Crash 2.2 installed, but Tracker Dog tells me that version 1.3 is the newer/updated version. I have Tube 2.26 installed, but TD says version 1.0 is the newer version. And ZLauncher 3.501 is showing to be newer than version 3.60...etc, etc... Also, out of the 150 + installed apps I have, TD only recognizes about 20 of them, meaning the TD database does not contain the other 130 or so! The application has good possibilities and certainly good intentions, but some time needs to be given to maintaining more updated and inclusive data. The program crashes on my SJ33 if I run it with Hi-Res assist enabled, and it shows multiple entries of the same apps if I run it with ZLauncher running also (I need to exit Zlauncher first.) Me too, and PDANews24 as well. I don't like to take the risk or chance that someone might be knowing what kind of software I am using at this exact moment.

Unregistered Guest Posts: n/a	Hi, I am the author of TrackerDog. It's good to see you are discussing this freeware. Does anyone read the FAQ page of http://trackerdog.a0soft.com? If you read, you will understand that why TD collects 18000+ but it still shows "no version data" to you. If you never read it, please read it first. If you find it shows you the older version than you are using, two possible reasons. 1. Original vendors didn't update the latest info. on Intenet. ==> we open a program for vendors to update TD database. and we hope you can also ask the vendors to join this program(It's free) if you find TD shows you wrong version info. for you installed applications. 2. TD database keeps the wrong creator/type ID. ==> we need user, likes you, to correct it. I designed TrackerDog because I don't want to waste time to check every I installed applications from ClieSource/PalmGear. I believe Plam fans should have the same feeling. That's why I make it free. But it's impossible for me to maintain the correctness of database. I have done the basic infrastructure but TD need you's help to fill in the correct creator/type ID. If so, you will get the correct version info all the time. PS: TrackerDog is not intend to replace ClieSource/PalmGear. It just shows that which applications need to be updated and you still have to download the programs from above sites. Sam
