Thumbs up 9+ hours of battery....

okay, here's my first test...

just the clie with a full charge, i got over 3 hours on full brightness, on wifi on irc (internet relay chat). i still had 15% left. i then popped the extended battery in. got an additonal 3.5 hours with the extended battery, which also charged the internal battery to full... which means i have about 3 more hours left.

total is around 9/10 hours, on wifi, brightness set to full. this isn't scientific, but it gave me a rough idea of what i could expect.

cheers,
pt

Wow is right... I wasn't thinking of getting a battery pack immediately -- now I think I will.

The battery sounds great... but $120?

I'd like to see a third party product that will clip on the same way, and have the same form factor, but perhaps hold a few AA's?

$120 for a battery pack, over $200 for 512mb of memory stick pro, $600 for the pda.

welcome to sony-ville, population us. i think it's worth it, sony makes amazing stuff and this is a great productivity tool as well as a lot of fun.

cheers,
pt

I look at the bigger picture...

The thousand bucks I blew on my UX50 + Memory Stick + Battery, etc goes to support hundreds of Sony engineers in Japan -- who eat thousands of cups of instant ramen each year at their desks for lunch -- which supports thousands of instant noodle factory workers who -- bored with making noodles, go home each evening and buy ANIME -- which spawns the creation of hundreds of new Anime series each year which eventually end up in the US.

This allows me to visit SunCoast or AnimeNation and pick up new Anime each month which improves the quality of my life.

It's a kind of "Geek Food Chain".

DON'T BREAK THE CHAIN!!!

Well...

I see a cool, sort of odd logic here (please Don't forget the many IT workers worldwide that do the ramen thing at all hours of the day & nite) oh, and yes Sony does make products that ROCK, they just cost a little more..........

Cheers..

I thought there was an offer of one at a discount when you register the UX50?

Free Overnight shipping?

Did you get the free SonyStyle UX leather case? If so, will the UX plus the extended battery fit into the case?

Thanks.

If you register I think you get 25% off of accessories. So you would save 30 on the battery.

Mine just arrived today.

Very nice design. It's extremely lightweight as well! I was really surprised.

I'm giving it a good charge now.
