Exclamation Jim's Tips #11: Jog Dial in Documents To Go

I stumbled upon this one by accident today. Did you know that you can navigate a spreadsheet in Documents-To-Go with the Jog Dial?

Sure, you can use it to scroll up and down, but try pressing the Jog Dial and then scrolling. You can move side-to-side! Press it again, and it reverts to up-and-down!

I'm sure this is documented somewhere, but I never would have known this had I not accidentally hit the Jog Dial.

For this and other tips, do a search on this forum for "Jim's Tips" or visit my web site, jimstips.com

Thanks for the tip - never thought of that. I only wish that there was a way to page dn/up in sheets to go.

Pressing the Jog-Dial _while_ scrolling will give you that function.

Thanks for the tip. I never found that out since I have the Jog wheel push as launching AudioCtrl in slowlaunch.
I think I will keep it that way, since I use AudioCtrl much more than Sheets-to-Go.

Since the original tip was about usage of the jog dial in documents to go I thought that was your primary intention.
But paging up or down also works fine with the hardware buttons. As I'm using my NR70V almost always in tablet mode I've installed PageDown Hack to enable the buttons in the status bar.

Let me clarify that you understood my intention of scrolling in Sheets-to-Go. But 'Slowlaunch' is a free and nice hack that enables other apps to open automatically when you hold a button (or the jog wheel) a bit longer than normal. I find it is activated even within Sheets-to-Go, so I am willing to give up that. Thanks again for the tip, though.

Actually, this is one time you can have your cake and eat it too, unless you are always on a diet like I am.

I have SheetsToGo and Slow Launch and am able to page up and page down as described. Slow Launch allows you to adjust the time delay before it launches the app you have assigned to the button. If you set the time delay a little longer, you can still page up or down in STG by pressing the jog dial and turning it, without activatiing the Slow Launch App. Just means you have to hold the button a little longer for Slow Launch to launch the assigned app.

Enjoy your cake.

How come I can't scroll in Docs 2 Go with Jog Dial? I have version 4.001. i can only use the onscreen scroll bar or the scroll next to the Clie's hard buttons (on the button)- and that scroll goes to fast!

If I 'click' the jog dial, my document is exited to Docs2go's main menu; there's no scrolling from side to side at all. Well, i can't even scroll up and down with the jog dial. It's not broken; it works in other apps.
